What is truth?

 

                    Pontius Pilate asked this question of Jesus in John 18:38; "What is truth?."

                    John 17:17 tells us what truth is. It says, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

                   Thy word is truth! The word of God is truth!             

                    Jesus said to Pilate in John 18:37; "Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice." (Or his word).

                    If we are to walk and live in truth we must hear, and know, and understand what the word is saying.

                    To deviate from, add to, or take away from the word is to abandon truth. To deny what the word plainly says is to walk in darkness and the deceitful lies of Satan.     

                    "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and the doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry,and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." (1 Timothy 4:1-3)

                    Jesus is truth.

                    He was the Word in the beginning that was with God, and the Word that was God, (John 1:1), and the Word that was made flesh, that dwelt among us,(John 1:14), and being God he cannot lie. "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began," (Titus 1:2).

                    Jesus is truth. His word is truth.

                    We are to walk in truth. We are to adhere to the word. Anything less is not truth. And there is none other truth but the word of God.

                    We are admonished in Proverbs 23:23 to "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."

                    What truth are we to buy?

                    What is truth?
