A WORD ABOUT TITHES AND OFFERINGS:

Malachi 3

3:8 Will a man rob God?

Yet ye have robbed me.

But ye say,

Wherein have we robbed thee?
In tithes and offerings.

3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse:

for ye have robbed me,

even this whole nation.

3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,

that there may be meat in mine house,

and prove me now herewith,

saith the Lord of hosts,

if I will not open you the windows of heaven,

and pour you out a blessing,

that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,

and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground;

neither shall your vine cast her fruit

before the time in the field,

saith the Lord of hosts.

3:12 And all nations shall call you blessed:

for ye shall be a delightsome land,

saith the Lord of hosts.

Why do some withhold from the Lord and rob him

when there are abundant blessings to be had

when we pay our tithes and give our offerings.

Poverty is no excuse.

In fact, to withhold brings about poverty.

Mark 12

12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury,

and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury:

and many that were rich cast in much.

12:42 And there came a certain poor widow,

and she threw in two mites,

which make a *farthing.

* which in 1994 would have been the equivalent of two quarters, or fifty cents.

12:43 And he called unto him his disciples,

and saith unto them,

Verily I say unto you,

That this poor widow hath cast more in,

than all they which have cast into the treasury:

12:44 For all they did cast in of their abundance;

but she of her want

did cast in all that she had,

even all her living.

She gave all that she had to the Lord.

Even her savings (all her living) of which she had none.

TITHES AND OFFERINGS ARE STILL A BIBLICAL PRINCIPAL

1 Corinthians 16

16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints,

as I have given order to the churches of Galatia,

even so do ye.

16:2 Upon the first day of the week

let every one of you lay by him in store,

as God hath prospered him,

that there be no gatherings when I come.

How shall the Church of God perform her duties

without the tithes and offerings of the saints?

May the good Lord bless you all abundantly!
