The CHURCH OF GOD at Hamilton, Montana

                             The Church of God was founded by Jesus Christ and since that time congregations of followers have been established all over the world.

                      The congregation of the Church of God at Hamilton, Montana began to worship together in 1950 at 307 North Second Street when God ordained that Pastor Robert L. Mullen should begin preaching there. Pastor Mullen preached in Hamilton until 1957 when he and his wife Myrtle moved to Idaho where he pastored the church at Couer d'Alene. Three years later, in 1960, The Mullen's returned to Hamilton where they continued serving the Lord until Brother Mullen's death in 2002 and Sister Mullen's death in 2004.

                      In 2001 Pastor Patrick M. Brower, who sat under Brother Mullen for ten years, was called into the ministry and took over the pastorship of the congregation.

                                                                           The year Brother Brower was born

 Brother Mullen was born in Kansas in 1908 where he labored on his fathers farm.

Below is a photo of his father sitting atop a mule drawn cultivator.

                       At the age of seventeen Brother Mullen accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

He attended barber college and quickly abandoned the farm routine, although he did enjoy raising feeder steers and until late in life he raised rabbits and a small overabundant garden. 

                       Brother Mullen entered the ministry at God's calling and at the age of 28 began to pastor a congregation in Medford, Oregon where he met Sister Mullen. A year later, on June 14, 1937 (flag day) they were married. The couple suffered through the death of their only child, a stillborn son.

                       They pastored in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Plains; Mt, and ultimately at Hamilton, Mt.

.

                       Many changes have been made over the years to the church building, as is evidenced in the photos. What started out as a grocery store and served as the justice of the peace's office before becoming a house of worship has been added on to and remodeled several times over the past 5O or so years.

                              While we love this building, and it harbors many precious memories, it will one day have to be replaced.

                       Today the truth of God's word is still being preached at 307 North 2nd Street at Hamilton. The saints of God (1 Corinthians 1:2) invite you to come and worship with them in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25) For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20). Praise the Lord! Won't you come and join us in making a joyful noise unto the Lord? (Psalm 95:1)
